Message from Choir President Lady Sylvia Hermon June 2025
Lady Hermon paid tribute again to the incredibly hard-working committee, along with the work of the members under the guidance of MD Emma Morgan Wilson and accompanist Christine Cairns. The deserved reward was 1st place in the Male Voice Choir section at the Bangor International Choral Festival, and this was followed by a tremendously successful Annual concert featuring guests, The Peninsula Choir, Peninsula Brass Quintet, and compere George Jones. None of this was achievable without the dedication of all, linked to the determination of Emma, guiding the choir to new heights.
The growing number of new members is evident, highlighting the choir’s confidence in progressing with new music, as plans are well in hand for the next twelve months, with a new Chairman and a strong committee.
Our President paid tribute to members who had passed away during the year, highlighting their contribution over the years and expressed the sense of loss felt by everyone.
“To say that I am proud of this choir, my choir, is a vast understatement. I can sense confidence and happiness within the ranks, which, together with your positive attitude, bodes well for the future. All in all, it has been a good 12 months with a good Chairman, a hard-working committee, and an excellent MD “
We look forward to another successful year leading the choir to new heights at home and away.
Warmest good wishes,
Sylvia H.
In September 2021, we were delighted to announce that Emma Morgan-Wilson was appointed as our new Musical Director. Emma hails from Donaghadee and has already taken us to the Bangor International Choral Festival.
2025/2026 was undoubtedly a busy year for this growing choir, and proved to be rewarding, with another win and a second place in the Bangor International Choral Festival.
We now set our sites on 2026/2027 to build on our success and hopefully welcome more young members.
You can read more about Emma in our “About Us” section.
Christine became our accompanist in January 2024.
A retired Head of Music in Hunterhouse College Finaghy, Christine has a wide experience of accompanying, rehearsing and conducting choirs. Outside of her school work Christine was rehearsal accompanist for Lisnagarvey Operatic Society and also performed with The Leading Ladies Quartet across the province for many years.
We welcome Christine to our ranks.
