Musical Director, Emma Morgan 2021 –
Raised in Donaghadee, Emma first sang in the choir at First Presbyterian Church in High Street during her childhood in the 1980s. She went on to study music at Queens University Belfast during which time she sang with the Queens Consort and Castle Ward Opera.
Over the last 20 years she has directed countless school choirs, church choirs and community choirs. A specialist in classical music, and with a particular love for early music, she nonetheless works with a wide variety of genres.
Emma was previously the Musical Director at St Gall’s Church of Ireland in Bangor and of the Abbey Singers in Jordanstown. She is currently also directing the Donaghadee Community Choir and is accompanist for the Peninsula Choir under the direction of Beatrice Kupicha.
‘It is a great privilege for me to be the newly appointed Musical Director for Donaghadee Male Voice Choir. It has been a long ambition of mine to work with this excellent and reputable choir and I am excited to be starting this new season with them.’
We are men in Northern Ireland, from all walks of life, living reasonably close to the seaside town of Donaghadee on the North East corner of County Down, meeting every Monday evening for practice and enjoying concerts, church services, performances for charity events in locations where one may not expect to see or hear a male voice choir. Competitions have been attended with many successes over the years but our greatest achievement has been the continued enjoyment of choral singing with friends and continually making more friends.
